Indications point to a labor matter as a factor that blocked the entry of Cathay Pacific into Philippine Airlines. Cathay wanted to cut down PAL’s labor force, from 8,000 to 5,000.
Fact is, PAL is bleeding profusely. And PAL union leaders refuse to acknowledge this to allow the implementation of a sane retrenchment plan.
