MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Airlines Employees’ Association (Palea) president Gerry Rivera said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer, or DZIQ, that the strike vote will proceed on Monday starting at 9 a.m. nationwide to get the pulse of the members.
He said the issue to be voted upon is union busting, which is different from the issue under review by Malacanang—contractualization of outsourcing of jobs of 2,600 union members.
He said a simple majority (50 percent plus one) is needed for the Palea members to decide to post a strike notice. Rivera said the organization would respect a vote result that decides against a strike.
