MANILA, Philippines (PNA) — Malacañang advised the Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA) on Tuesday to use all the remaining legal remedies to defend their rights.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte told Palace reporters on Tuesday that there are so many remedies that the affected employees of PAL can use after the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) gave the go signal to PAL management to lay-off some 2,000 employees of the air line company.

According to Undersecretary Valte, the PALEA members and the affected PAL employees can file a motion for reconsideration to the Court of Appeals (CA) regarding the DOLE decision.
Valte echoed that Malacanang is supporting the decision of Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz’ which give the PAL management the go signal to lay-off some 2,600 employees of the flag carrier.
The Palace spokeswoman immediately explained that the DoLE’s decision is based on laws and the affected PAL employees will receive their compensation.

Valte made the statement after members of the PALEA march to Mendiola and stage a protest rally.
The PAL employees asked President Aquino to fire Labor Sec. Baldoz for being anti-labor.
