THE FLIGHT Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines (FASAP) has asked the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to investigate alleged discriminatory practices of Philippine Airlines (PAL).

In a five-page letter submitted to CHR Chairman Loretta Ann P. Rosales, FASAP President Roberto Anduiza said PAL has refused to raise the mandatory retirement age for flight attendants from the current 40 years old. He added that PAL does not also count pregnancy and maternity leaves to the total number of years they serve the company. Pregnant women also do not receive salary while on leave. In a statement, PAL said FASAP is engaging in "forum shopping" by approaching the CHR. The Department of Labor and Employment is conducting preventive mediation between FASAP and PAL after the union filed a notice of strike earlier this month.
