PAL cancels Cebu-Davao flights for ‘lean season’

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Airlines (PAL) has cancelled its flights between Cebu and Davao during the “lean season” between August 9 and November 30. This route will be reinstated during the peak season.
In a news release, PAL announced a new flight schedule it submitted to the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) “to further optimize operational efficiency as the travel sector enters the lean season.”

Routes with reduced frequencies include those going to and from Manila and Ozamiz, Dipolog, Puerto Princesa, and Cebu.
“Capacity rationalization is routinely done in anticipation of lower passenger volume, especially tourists, during the rainy months from August to November. It also coincides with the reduced number of PAL pilots who left for jobs abroad,” PAL president and chief operating officer (COO) Jaime Bautista said.

He said it is during “low” season when airlines normally introduce promotional programs to entice passengers to travel. It’s also the time of year when PAL schedules major maintenance checks on the fleet. PAL launched several promos a few weeks back.

The new flight schedule, which will be published in major dailies, is also available at the PAL website at www.philippineairlines.com. Passengers may also call 855-8888 for inquiries.
